Qualcomm introduced Snapdragon processors for smartphones two parameters that both average and containing 8 cores. Two years ago a former Qualcomm executive who needs meant that many core processor inside a single chip.
Snapdragon 430 and 617 are two processors designed for those phones that come after high parameters smartphones powered by Snapdragon processors like Snapdragon 820. Regarding the 820 want to add something, a self information that comes from Qualcomm. This processor will provide support for 4G + 650 Mbps download and 150 Mbps upload.
Ten precisely in 2013, Vice President of Qualcomm eight-core processors was called "stupid". When asked whether to follow the strategy of MediaTek implementation of many cores in a single processor, he said, "I do not deal with vanity".
And now Snapdragon 430 and 617 are both eight-core processor. Two new processors will contain the old core Cortex-A53 cores and not Kryon who will be part of Snapdragon 820.
Few details have been revealed where we learned that 430 Snapdragon powered by an Adreno 500 graphics core, but that support is limited to 1080p screens. The first phones with this processor will appear next year while those with Snapdragon 617 by the end of this year.
The biggest difference though both will be support for LTE. 617 Snapdragon has a Qualcomm LTE chip X8 with support for LTE-Advanced (4G +) 2 × 200 MHz up to 300 Mbps download and 100 Mbps upload. On the other hand uses Snapdragon 430 x6 version with support for LTE 2 × 10 MHz up to 150 Mbps and 75 Mbps upload donwload. Wi-Fi, both processors offer support for tri band 60 GHz 802.11ad.
Why does it matter? Currently, the unit of measurement of the performance of electronic devices has become the number of nuclei. With four major players in the market such as ARM (whose designs are adapted from other small producers), Qualcomm, Samsung and Apple, the competition is pushing manufacturers to break the limits they themselves have set previously.
